Equipment

  • Silicone Spoon Candy Mold linked above

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Enjoy Life chocolate chips
  • 1 cup dairy free white chocolate chips
  • Optional: gluten free sprinkles sanding sugar, or crushed gluten free peppermint candy

Instructions

  • Place the Enjoy Life chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl.
  • Microwave for 20 seconds, then stir thoroughly.
  • Continue microwaving in 15-second intervals, stirring well after each interval, until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth. Be careful not to overheat it.
  • Place the silicone spoon mold on a flat baking sheet or cutting board. This will make it easier to transfer the mold without spilling the chocolate.
  • Carefully spoon the melted chocolate into each cavity. Use the back of a small spoon to spread the chocolate all the way into the handle and bowl of each spoon.
  • Gently tap the baking sheet against the counter several times to release trapped air bubbles.
  • Add gluten free sprinkles, sanding sugar, or crushed peppermint candy, if desired.
  • Refrigerate the mold for approximately 20 to 30 minutes, or until the chocolate is completely firm.
  • Carefully peel the silicone mold away from each chocolate spoon. Avoid pulling on the thin handles, as they can break.
  • Repeat the process with the dairy free white chocolate chips.

Notes

Helpful Tips

  • Make sure the chocolate fills the entire handle so the finished spoons are strong enough to remove from the mold.
  • Do not overheat the chocolate. Short microwave intervals and frequent stirring produce the smoothest results.
  • Place the mold on a baking sheet before filling it so you can easily move it to the refrigerator.
  • Allow the spoons to become completely firm before removing them.
  • Hold each spoon near its bowl when releasing it from the mold to help prevent the handle from breaking.
  • If the melted chocolate is too thick, stir in a small amount of coconut oil—about ¼ teaspoon at a time—until it is easier to spread.

Ways to Use Chocolate Spoons

These chocolate spoons are delicious on their own, but they can also make everyday treats feel a little more magical:
  • Stir one into a mug of hot chocolate
  • Melt one into hot coffee
  • Use one to eat cereal
  • Serve them with ice cream
  • Add them to a holiday hot chocolate bar
  • Wrap them individually for party favors
  • Include them in Christmas treat boxes
  • Serve them during a Mary Poppins movie night
The chocolate will slowly melt as you stir, adding extra sweetness and chocolate flavor to your drink.
