Ingredients

  • 1 box gluten free penne pasta
  • 32 ounces marinara sauce I use Rao's
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 16 ounces cottage cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan

Instructions

  • Start by heating a frying pan over medium heat, adding a touch of olive oil. Once the pan is hot, add the ground beef and cook it until it's browned and crumbled. Make sure to season it with garlic salt, Italian seasoning, and a pinch of red pepper flakes for that extra kick of flavor.
  • In a medium bowl, mix together the creamy ricotta, cottage cheese, and half of the mozzarella cheese. This cheesy blend will add a creamy texture and delicious flavor to your penne pasta bake.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked penne pasta, browned ground beef, and your favorite marinara or spaghetti sauce. Gently toss everything together, making sure the sauce coats all the ingredients evenly.
  • Now it's time to layer your penne pasta bake in a well-greased baking dish. Start with a layer of the pasta and meat mixture, followed by a layer of the cheesy mixture. Repeat this process until you've used up all your ingredients, finishing with a generous sprinkling of mozzarella and parmesan cheese on top. The result will be a hearty, gooey, and utterly delicious pasta casserole.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). While the oven is heating up, prepare the aluminum foil by greasing the inner side that will come into contact with the cheese. This will prevent the cheese from sticking to the foil as it melts.
  • Cover your baking dish with the greased aluminum foil, ensuring it's sealed tightly. This step is essential to trap the steam and keep the pasta moist. Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 25-30 minutes.
  • After the initial baking time, carefully remove the foil, and continue baking for another 10-15 minutes or until the cheese is golden brown and bubbly. The aroma that fills your kitchen will have your family eagerly gathering around the table.
