Gluten Free Salsa Recipe
If you’re a sucker for chips and salsa, then you are going to want to make this gluten free salsa recipe right away! It’s ready in less than 5 minutes, with minimal prep, and it tastes freaking delicious! Seriously, it’s so good you may want to go ahead and double the recipe!

Gluten Free Salsa
Yes, it’s true that almost all salsa recipes are gluten free. But when you are new to a gluten free lifestyle, you may not know that. I have been gluten free for many years and have a wealth of knowledge to share with you, and that is one of the driving forces behind my blog!
So let’s chat about this recipe for a second. The base of this recipe is something my mom has been making for me for years and years. It’s just petite diced tomatoes, green pepper, and onions. And while I absolutely adore that recipe and crave it and request her to make it often, I can’t help but go rogue and create my own recipes. It’s just what I do!
My favorite store-bought salsa is the Mild Jalapeño Salsa from Cocina Fresca. And this Gluten Free Salsa Recipe tastes almost exactly like it! In fact, this homemade salsa recipe is my new favorite salsa of all time! And I hope you love it as much as I do.
What ingredients you need to make gluten free salsa:
- Canned petite diced tomatoes
- Green pepper
- Onion
- Garlic
- Lime juice
- Jalapeno
- Salt
- Dried cilantro
Shortcuts and more about the ingredients:
Y’all know I like taking shortcuts in my kitchen, and this recipe is super easy with a few simple shortcuts. For example, I recommend using a food processor to make this recipe. It helps blend all of the ingredients together. A high powered blender will work in a pinch too!
Because we’re using a food processor to blend this salsa together, you don’t have to worry much about finely dicing and chopping the ingredients. You can put larger pieces in the food processor and it will chop them up for you!
You can also buy a container of diced green pepper and onions in the produce section of most grocery stores to take out some of the prep work.
For the lime juice, I cut a lime in half and used a citrus squeezer to squeeze out one tablespoon.
Increase the amount of salt to your liking if needed.
For the garlic, you can drop one peeled clove into the food processor or use one teaspoon minced garlic from a jar.
If using fresh cilantro, you’ll want to use 1 1/2 teaspoons in place of the dried cilantro since dried herbs are more potent that fresh.
If you like spicier salsa, you have a couple of options. One, you can add one jalapeño with the seeds still inside because that’s where the heat comes from. Or, you can add two to three jalapeños without the seeds for a similar effect. It’s up to you which you prefer. I, personally, like mild salsa, especially since I share it with a toddler.

How to make the best homemade salsa:
- Add all ingredients to your food processor or high powered blender and blend until everything is chopped up and incorporated. It only takes a few seconds because we’re not looking to make the recipe super smooth. You still want to be able to see the chunks of veggies in it.
- That’s it…super simple and tastes delicious!
How to serve gluten free salsa:
Tortilla chips: Serve as a dip with gluten free tortilla chips (most are naturally gluten free)
Tacos: Top your tacos with this homemade gluten free salsa instead of diced tomatoes
Taco salad: Add this salsa to a taco salad instead of using dressing
Or drink it with a straw! I’m kidding! But it really is that good!
