Thin Mint Smoothie
After making Thin Mint Energy Bites, I decided we all need a Thin Mint Smoothie as well! This Thin Mint Smoothie recipe uses just 6 simple ingredients and gives you that chocolate and mint combo of flavors you crave in a Thin Mint cookie! It’s healthy and packed with protein, and it’s gluten free, vegan, and low carb!

Thin Mint Smoothie
Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies, York Peppermint Patties, Andes Mints, Junior Mints…all have two distinct flavors to them: chocolate and mint! Another thing they all have in common is a high sugar content, and that is not something we want to indulge in daily. So in comes this Thin Mint Smoothie recipe to save the day! Made with just 6 healthy ingredients, including spinach, this smoothie is sure to satisfy your craving for chocolate and mint cookies and candies!
What ingredients you need to make this Thin Mint Smoothie:
- Baby spinach
- Unsweetened almond milk
- Chocolate protein powder
- Peppermint extract
- Vanilla extract
- Ice
Let’s talk about peppermint extract:
Peppermint extract is what gives this Thin Mint Smoothie its minty flavor. You want to make sure you’re using peppermint extract and not peppermint oil for this recipe. Extract is diluted with alcohol, while most peppermint essential oils are not edible. They sell peppermint oil for baking in the spice aisle next to the peppermint extract, but I don’t recommend it for this recipe as it hasn’t been diluted. If you have peppermint sweet drops, you can use 5-10 drops in place of the peppermint extract.
A note about SweetLeaf Peppermint Sweet Drops: they are stevia drops infused with peppermint oil, which will add sweetness to this recipe. If your chocolate protein powder is already sweetened, the use of sweet drops may make this smoothie a bit too sweet. If that’s the case, you can always sub 1/2 tablespoon cocoa powder and 1 serving collagen peptides for the chocolate protein powder.
Chocolate Protein Powder:
I have to admit, I don’t usually use flavored protein powders because I don’t like the texture and after taste. I prefer collagen peptides because they don’t have any flavor. That being said, chocolate collagen peptides are a life-saver in this recipe! But any chocolate protein powder you love will work! The protein powder will add both the chocolate flavor and the sweetness this Thin Mint Smoothie needs.
Milk Preferences:
I prefer unsweetened almond milk for most of my smoothie recipes because it is dairy free and has a very mild flavor. But you can use the milk of your choice for this Thin Mint Shake recipe!
Optional add-ins:
I have made this Thin Mint Protein Smoothie with frozen cauliflower rice and with frozen avocado as bases instead of ice and both turned out delicious! This really just depends on the nutrients you need at the time. If you want less fat, don’t choose avocado. If you want to add more antioxidants, opt for riced cauliflower. If you don’t want either, stick with ice!
You can literally throw any ingredients you want into a blender and call it a smoothie. So customize this Thin Mint Smoothie to satisfy your particular dietary needs!
